Alone

The sky was clear now, after a rainy spell of many years …. that’s right – years, not days or months.

She had wished to soak in encouragement, enthusiasm and admiration. But her near and dear ones had chosen to be dampeners instead. They feared her power, the expanse of her flight and they feared losing control.

It was gradual disengagement, not a brutal separation. She now stood alone, but stronger than ever before.

  1. Nice use of words – “rainy spell” “soak in” “chosen to be dampeners”

Hopefully those close to her will come to realize what a blessing it will be to her to be strong, not only for herself, but for them too.

  2. The courage to stand alone is for most, no easy task. To do so at the risk of losing family and friendships is probably not very common as the pressure to be part of a “collective” can be overpowering for a lot of people. The need to feel secure by being part of the “group” is a strong motivator and should never be underestimated. Bravo to your character. Hers will be the sunshine! 🙂
