For how long will you
look for emotional merging
in responding bodies
and return-
disappointed?
For how long will you
boost your sagging esteem
with conquests
and feel all the more-
hollow?
For how long will you
look for right things
in the wrong places
and whip yourself –
unforgiving?

Good insight, Reena.

Desire can be a very poor judge… sometimes we have to make other choices.

Yes. A book by Dan Ariely, “Predictably Irrational” describes the change in behavior of sensible and intelligent people at length. Thanks!

This is so poignant and deeply meaningful.. I agree one must never succumb to desire if it involves (in any way) compromising our self respect. ❤️

It is lack of respect for self and others which drive a person to depravity. A self-respecting person will not want to fall in others’ eyes, including the victim.

That’s an interesting perspective — desire is exhibited with an individual sense of need and want, and it is significant sometimes to form and understand the basis for those needs and wants. As significant as its entanglement can be, it can lead to harm and hurt when it doesn’t beget anything but a certain feeling of emptiness, a kind of an emotional void. Well penned!

One needs to understand the ‘why’ of a drive.
