Renewal

Remembrance

hangs on the wall
behind a garland
In a dusty frame

is a fond memory
that lives only in my mind
and will die with me

is the honor I bestow
on a sentiment
now past its sell-by date

 Remembrance

something that stirs me enough
to transform the core
and spurs me on to action

something that connects
the past, present and future
to make sense of it all

something that invokes history
to become current affairs
and keep renewing itself
