I’m on a visit to my village after two decades. My school still looks the same. Grey walls, wooden staircase, old-fashioned desks …. It needs repair in some places, before they move to renovation. Lack of funds has been an issue for long.
A small donation from me is appreciated, but is clearly insufficient to meet their needs. I return with a heavy heart. The lamp that lit our lives, and set us on the path to a better existence needs a filament and power to fulfil its purpose today.
I know the value of each step I climb today.

Very evocative writing Reena.

Such a shame. I know that both my junior and senior schools I attended have since been demolished, but thankfully replaced with new modern buildings. Still a shame I can not go back for a bit of nostalgia and inspiration!

And we cannot reconnect with the new buildings. It happens with residential buildings too.

Sad is it not that our past homes, villages and towns are facing neglect. May be something needs to be done.

Migration changes the landscape. People liquidize the assets and move away.
