“A genetic bond, yes, my grandfather made it. But Grandmom apprised me of the perils of starting something one cannot complete. She did not want this in the house.”

“But why?”

“He forgot to incorporate clock machinery into it. And it does not have a sturdy base. She had a problem making it stand straight.”

Oh, the pain behind beautiful exteriors, maintainence pf  museums and life lessons we learnt from those….

  1. Was grandfather always as slapdash as this – about his marriage for example? No mechanism and a flimsy base wouldn’t make much of a marriage, whatever show the couple put on for others. Good story, Reena, and excellent take on the prompt.
