I have tried being a spectator to my thoughts, and discovered the roots of many decisions and assumptions. It was also a grounding experience – to know that I am not always the driver. The triggers lay somewhere else in the subconscious.
I may have muted those sounds long ago, but the energy continues to reverberate in some form. It makes sense to acknowledge those, apply reason and then let it go.

Thank goodness we’re not always the driver. I’ve created many a wreck in my life. Awareness and mindfulness would have helped.

Interesting how we tend to block out those silent words that we don’t want to hear! But, it does not take them away!

Being a ‘spectator to my thoughts’ is quite wise. Consider them as you would spoken words of others to see if they are true and if they have value. I like your sharing this.

Being aware of the thoughts that come to mind make me wonder if they are my thoughts. My awareness is not always the driver as you mention. Good point about awareness being crucial to movement in life.

I love the phrase ‘spectator to my thoughts’ and the image of mindfulness in the haiku, Reena, and I agree that it’s a grounding experience to know that one is not always the driver.
