Dear Humanity,

Dear Humanity,

swp mlmm

Unfortunately, I find that what sparks the light in me does that only to me. There are very few or no takers for the same.

I came across this quote a few days ago, shared it on LinkedIn, and the response was zilch.

“The moral flabbiness born of the exclusive worship of the bitch-goddess SUCCESS. That – with the squalid cash interpretation put on the word ‘success’ – is our national disease.”

William James, the father of modern psychology

I wonder how James sees this as flabbiness. I see a complete absence of morality. It is not ingrained into children either by parents or teachers. We have people who have benefited by ignoring a humane/moral approach. We have people who tried that but failed, and they do not wish to see their children suffer the same fate. The net impact is that you (humanity) disappeared. Success and wealth got on the pedestal.

I read about an attempt to make robots understand and interpret human emotions. I see it as an audacious initiative, when humans fail to see it. Is it an attempt to superimpose another mechanical model on humanity, and expect people to follow it?

Animals can sense our moods, and respond with complete involvement. Can we? Maybe it is too much to expect. We are entitled to working on our own success/progress/development. Can people just refrain from hurting another in the process? People in positions of power have the influence and resources to set an example. Somehow, the ‘successful model’ gets popularized and emulated, not the ‘humane’ one. There is very little space for you – in the name of the charities they contribute to, as a measure of compliance or to save taxes. Or maybe, people with a humane approach do not reach the peaks of success.

I have been digressing to morality and ethics throughout the rant, but does it not constitute the fiber of your being? I pray to you, to let the world know what constitutes you, and what will help them survive or perish, or achieve immortality.
