Who?

Two dead bodies found strapped to chairs in the sea……” screamed the news headlines.

Was it a suicide or murder? Why should anyone be there on chairs? And why couldn’t they escape before the high tide?

The idiots were testing a new device they had invented. It was supposed to lift them higher, as the pressure below increased, making them buoyant like a gas balloon. It appeared that the device failed to function, and they failed to make a SOS call in time.

Someone in the crowd, fully smeared with slush, laughed to himself.

It was tough to rise up, as the quicksand continued to pull me down. But I was determined to cut the cord, and ensure my own survival. The buoyancy their device was creating wasn’t helping me. I was sinking deeper… but finally I won.

The Head of the research lab had summoned an emergency meeting.

“Every assumption and the possible consequences of an experiment need to be documented and approved before executing it. The members of this team cannot be foolhardy to make life-threatening experiments at their own free will and fancy…”

He paused as he heard a murmur, but resumed speaking after a brief moment. Maybe, his imagination was working overtime. There was nothing and no one around him. But he thought he distinctly heard the words,

“Who has ever documented enmity?”

No. His sister and her boyfriend had no enemies. They were just crazy… wanting to prove their ‘love extraordinare’.

Someone laughed again. The scientist wondered why the person chose to remain invisible. He could well be rewarded for his brave deed.
