Up there

“How does the world look like from there?”

“It looks like a grander version of an architect’s model of a township.”

“Thank the Lord for creating the world. You are but a tiny speck in the universe.”

“Oh, Philosopher …. we are big and resourceful enough to have wi-fi connectivity up here. I bow to human intelligence.” They chuckled, enjoying being suspended mid-air.

Suddenly, the screen blanked out, and the sky darkened. A storm was approaching. The sound of thunder sent chills down their spines. A yellow-orange orb rose in the sky, which looked like a volcanic eruption.

Will the control tower pull them back in time? The darned philosopher must be clicking pictures to share on social media. They wondered what the world will say about this tomorrow. Will their obituaries accompany the news on the disaster?

  1. Intriguing mention of being pulled back in time, but wasn’t sure if it meant time-travel or just being pulled back in time to avoid the storm. Well done.
