I am a non-believer. Institutionalized faith has never inspired me. I see it as nothing more than opium for the masses.
I see the opium of religion being replaced with many others – mindless music, mindless devotion, mindless battles. People are given a cause to fight for, which does not really impact society and life, but keeps them distracted from real life manipulations of a selected few. Conformism is the path to slavery.
But … where is the anchor I need to feel whole, to feel the connection between mind, body and spirit? I need to start a new un-faith movement, a non-cult of objectivity, of seeing beyond edited highlights of leadership and movements.
can sky and water
turn transparent to reveal
possibilities beyond?

I agree with so much you say here. Religion does not impact me, only spirituality moves me.
I challenge you to read “Dying to be Me” by Anita Moojani and “E-squared” by Pam Grout (both are on kind and, I believe, in print). Read and do a bit, then decide if there is something to feed the masses…I believe there is.

PS- “Conversations With God – Book 1” by Neale Donald Walsh is the really book that helped me totally change my beliefs. I am so much happier now.

Institutionalized .. make me think of madness… maybe faith can have a lot of common with that… But I do have faith of morality… we need that to live together… and part of the scriptures actually contains good guidelines, I have faith in other humans thinking for themselves actually.

The irony is that we cannot survive without faith. Every step that you take is based on the faith, that the earth will not sink. Thanks, Bjorn!

Me too, Reena – institutionalized faith has never inspired me. I agree that ‘People are given a cause to fight for, which does not really impact society and life, but keeps them distracted from real life manipulations of a selected few’ – we see it all the time. I also agree with your ‘But’ – we need some kind of anchor ‘to feel whole, to feel the connection between mind, body and spirit’. And what we all do here is write, which seems to be a pretty good anchor to me.

Anything mindless is worthless. You are seeking something meaningful, and you will find it, because you are you.

I think writing has become my faith and I imagine that is so for most of us posted here.

Thanks for sharing your views. A thought-provoking piece. I do believe that there is so much more than institutionalized faith. I think the purpose of our life runs much deeper than that.

I think they might be able to. I agree with you. People seek for something. No one can tell you what that is. Keep seeking.
