Been to a few places like that. When in Germany, on a Sunday, our group stopped in a town and we given some time to walk around. I went into a church. It was plain, small, and ordinary on the outside…inside it was mostly gold. Real? I don’t know, but it was magnificent. Took my breath away. So, yes, I understand you perfectly.

Religious places are large holders of wealth. But unexpected grandeur is a different element.
