Three is a Crowd

It was a difficult drive, but the detectives were on their trail to the spot of crime.

“Why do you think anybody would want to abduct a poor, penniless beauty?”

“Establishing a motive in a crime of passion takes time and effort. We cannot jump to conclusions.”

“Sure, we cannot and should not. But what made you think of that?”

“That heart-shaped pothole with three dissimilar shapes. It could be a clash of interests or personalities.”

A little later, they found the strangulated dead body lying in the forest.

“Oh, my God! We are late.”

“Yes. My instincts were right. Now, we track the complainant’s wife.”

I thought of Princess Diana’s famous reply

“Well, there were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded,”  Maybe, I was jumping to conclusions too fast.

  1. Three in a relationship rarely works, but then again two in a relationship sometimes does not work. Your story has reminded me of a long forgotten family story, thank you.
