He was watching ‘Devdas’ for the sixth time.

“Can a married woman from an aristocratic background, look so sensuous, crossing the yard to meet her lover?” he sighed.

“The magic emanates from the extra yards of fabric we added to the sari, to create the moonlight-in-motion look. Watch the blue one that took four months to complete, and …… ”

I stopped mid-sentence, on seeing the faraway look in his eyes.

I am the award winning costume designer for the epic movie, but my husband was enthralled with the girl’s beauty rather than my hard work.

 

P.S. Devdas is an epic movie made in 2002, based on a novel by Sarat Chandra Upadhyay. The costumes of the period film had won high acclaim, and the National Award for Best Costume Design in the same year.
