Mental Health

I attended an event called Living Stories on Saturday, which presented Human Books to readers like us. These are individuals who have fought the battle with a mental disorder, and emerged victorious. I just came back humbled by the experience, having learnt a lot from several young people.

The one common thing they all needed was VALIDATION. Whatever they suffered or did was circumstantial, and not their fault. It could have happened to anybody, and is curable. They are capable of leading normal lives again.

More on so-called ‘normality’ later. as of now, a set of haikus. The first one incorporates the prompt words, and the remaining are just extended thoughts on the subject.

Landscapes of ruins

earthquakes of experience

shattered mindsets

it will take effort

to restore sanity and

rehabilitate

look with compassion

just stop playing the blame game

they will live again

they are human

as much as you and me

accept, validate

why get bogged down

by so-called normality

shift the perspectives
