Vices

Getting lost in the forest is an awful feeling, especially, when the phone is low on battery, and the GPS not working.

And suddenly, there is manna from Heaven!

“Do you know that caffeine consumption can raise blood pressure, cause gout attacks, increase risk of heart strokes, insomnia and incontinence? The caffeine in black tea inflicts the same damage. Give up your poison, and consume more fruits and vegetables …..”

Her own words ring hollow. She is a dietician, who has always spoken and written volumes against addiction. But these cups, precariously balanced on the edge of poles, are an indication to the presence of humanity, and a kitchen of some description.

Humans leave civilization trails more with their vices, than virtues. Vices weave people together in a social fabric, and crystallize into a culture. Fruits and vegetables from nature’s basket would never have helped her reach here.

“Is there someone in there, and can you help me with a cup of tea?” her voice echoed in the vastness of the jungle.
