Reappearance

Is it

a pressed flower

between the pages of

forgotten chapters?

Or the reappearance

of a familiar face

triggering a storm

in still waters?

 

Footfalls on the beach

were scarce

till the captain of a

supposedly capsized ship

returned,

to claim his place

in the news reports

and on cheering lips.

 

Lost glory

hits back again

I have not embraced darkness

just the safety of twilight.

Perseverance and persistence

may not have paid well

but life rewards those

who play their cards right.
