The Executioner

Being tied to a chair was about as unpleasant as he imagined.

He was the HR Head of an organization, and a new management team had taken over. Several senior managers from the past had quit, or were asked to leave. He had wanted to tender his resignation in the same week. But the offer they made to him was too good to resist.

A few weeks down the line, he knew that he had sold himself. He was retained only to play the executioner’s role, and kill the people he had worked with for years.

Conscience was tugging hard at him, to cut the ropes and free himself. And then, he received a better offer. Life appeared to be rosy, after a long time…..

…..till he learnt that the other organization is going through a similar process, and his expertise is sorely needed. They could afford to pay the price he named.
