A brilliant poem by Amit Agrawal – English translation in Comments.

challenge-55

On a Sunday afternoon, she expected to be able to sit and ruminate about the past week and plan a few activities for the coming week.

But when the phone rang and she heard her brother in tears begging for help every plan went out the window.

There was clearly a crisis, and as had happened so often in the past she was the one the family went to, the one who held everything together.

There was no time for reflection on the matter the brother had called for help there was no doubt he was in a desperate way, and she needed to get to him as quickly as possible.

So, dropping everything and quickly explaining to her husband, she was out the door, into her car and off to his assistance.

The drive took forty minutes, she wasn’t sure afterwards how many speed limits she broke as her…

The Ignorant White Man: Institutionalized Oppression of Women.

Ronovan's avatarronovanwrites

To start off with, this is not a completely fleshed out piece that I was hoping for. However, it is a piece that I hope with get some men out there to realize reality. Reality in many areas, some you may not even know I was going to come at you with. Eventually I’ll get that well formed piece of work with all the notations, citations, and other tions, but for now, here you have it, from a man in the middle of his worst Fibromyalgia Flare in years.

Society is a bunch of institutionalized isms. I hate the word ‘institutionalized’ these days. But, it’s a fact and we can’t avoid it and shouldn’t. Avoidance is one of the ways we are the way we are now.

Depending on whether you believe in some type of faith or you’re an atheist that believes in the evolution of man from molecules…

2+2 could be less than 4

There is no truth greater than fiction, and there is no fiction greater than the statistics thrown at you every day. Face reality – whatever service you provide, you are a product. For whatever you want in life – tangible or intangible, you are a target client for someone. Are you trying to sell something? … Continue reading 2+2 could be less than 4

mmlm sunday writing prompt: prophylactica

Lorraine's avatarLorraine's frilly freudian slip

Our instructions for this Sunday’s writing prompt:

“In George Orwell’s 1984 there is a statement along the lines of:

“Not only did Winston believe two plus two equalled five, he loved it.”

The nature of the novel is to have us reflect on what it is we are told and how any government might be able to control the truth. The notion of, if you are told something often enough it might then be true.

We live in a world of ‘fake’ news, lies and ‘alternate’ facts.

This week write about the improbable, how we can be manipulated by the information we are subjected to.

You could reflect on the current world situation.

You could construct a totally fictitious tale.

Let the prompt lead you and have fun.”

“You know,” he said, passing me the joint, “all fact is fiction.”

I breathed in deeply, held, then expelled in a gush…
