CHALLENGE

“So, you think money is at the root of all evil …..”

In a far corner of the betting shop sits the man down on his luck and all but out of cash.

It’s time for the last race, and he feels in his pocket as much out of hope as anything and finds two, $2.00 coins hiding in the far corner.

It’s not much, but it’s his last hope.

It’s been a mournful day, his money so easily gambled away and now in his mind is what to say to his wife when he returns home penniless. She’s been on to him to give it away, says to him “money is the root of all evil’ and he knows now how true that is.

In the back of his mind, the words of his father echo: “It’s a hard game.”

He rolls the coins in his fingers as…

UntitleddfdsdThe country is divided – rich vs. poor, black vs. white, men vs. women – freedom wanted, but only oppression is alive and well. The guilty get a pass; the innocent convicted of nothing. There is an unease permeating throughout. All inhabitants challenged like never before in this reign of rich, white men’s egos. The political climate of today’s world has all teetering and scared. The tension so thick, cutting it only adds more strength to the day’s events.

This post is in response to :

Writing Every Week – # Week 2 presented by Kripi

Reena’s Exploration Challenge # Week 58 presented by Reena.

I thank them both for presenting us with this opportunity.

Kia was a very lively, motivated and outgoing person. Yeah she “was” all of this but now she mostly kept herself to the four walls of her room.

Sitting on a chair in a corner she now thinks about her life and it’s sorrows.

She had become a real whiner.

Nowadays she found the salt not right, the day too sunny or windy, the cracks in the wall more prominent, the poster a little crooked and so on.

Even in the company of her good friends, loving family she wasn’t at peace. Her mind was constantly occupied by the thoughts…

किसका है

a vision lights up my being
going deep, from the peeps

carved by daggers- into many hearts
each spasm taking parts to whole

precious moments, treasured bonds
trapped in hazy mirrors at home

autumnal longings haunt
barren gardens of the soul

you shall reap what you sow
don’t ask who brought in the thorns

Parting shots

I fervently pray for time to stop, but know that it will not. The part of me I leave behind will be forgotten by those I care about today. It will claim its space in the subconscious –  netherlands of existence – that is where it is destined to remain. I was naïve to see … Continue reading Parting shots
