I discovered this wonderful blog today ....
When you leave me,
please —
spike my gloom
with silver sickle
of a waxing moon
and in the wake
behind you
please —
trickle pebble stars
to guide me through
your night till dawn.
When you leave me,
please —
light me candles
by your bed.
Today De hosts Quadrille at dVerse, and the word is spike. If you haven’t joined before the challenge is easy. Write a poem in exactly 44 words including the given word.
A commentary on evolving gender equations ..... by Bladud Fleas
PROMPT Twisted out of shape to please others, she did not recognize herself. When she rose on her feet, with straight shoulders and looked in the eyes of the world – the world did not recognize her. She has shed the burden of imposed expectations, but needs to carve out a fresh identity. Will a … Continue reading Woman – her journey
An account of female bravery …… by Lady Lee Manila

Tandang Sora was poor and her only means of livelihood came from the profits she got into selling. One day in August, the Supremo and his forces, tired and worn out, but determined to fight the enemy, came to the house of Tandang Sora, who immediately gave them a hundred sacks of rice from her storehouse, ten carabaos and tools they would need. She herself had become a revolucionario. Her help extended from giving provisions to the movement; she took care of the wounded and sick freedom fighters, not fearing that she would be caught by the Spanish authorities.
A Filipino Woman Married to a Spaniard – she overheard remarks about the Filipinos from her Spanish guests. She was in her room, went out and told them to stop. When they wouldn’t stop, she told her husband. He sided with his countrymen and ignored her request. She took a stick…

Michael’s view on the women in his life …..

Image: Woman – Her Journey
Every woman I know has had it tough by virtue of birth.
This, of course, is my male perspective on women.
I’ve been fortunate in life to have known some very strong and determined women, my mother was one. In her own way, she brought my brothers and sister up to be the people we are today.
My mother came from a completely different era, what we might consider ignorance now was the norm back then. My mother didn’t have access to the world as we know it and she was unworldly we might say. But fundamentally she was a woman who knew right from wrong and was quick to point it out to us when needed.
Since my mother died early, 57 is young these days, I’ve been surrounded by women of different kinds. The woman I married was a strong-headed woman, she…

The Key …………… by VJ Knutson
Found a key
stashed away
forgotten
origin unknown
purpose equally
mysterious
an inkling
seeping regret –
too late
realization
dawns –
I’m the keeper
and the treasure –
hold the power,
except
No one told me.
Gave it all away
Found a key
stashed away
lock long broken.

(This poem was inspired by the image Hélène supplied for her What Do You See? challenge. The poem was having difficulty forming itself, but when I saw Reena’s image for her Exploration Challenge, the pieces fell together. Thank you both for prodding my muse.)
Is Chivalry Dead —– One man’s hope for the future …. by Len

Is chivalry dead.
As fair maidens venture forth, searching for the Holy Grail of gender equality.
Is chivalry dead.
As women storm the bastions of male power and aggression.
Is chivalry dead.
As women shield themselves from sexual predators
Is chivalry dead.
As women armour themselves against servitude in foreign lands.
Is chivalry dead.
No.
Chivalry is alive.
Turned into mutual respect.
The battle is not yet won.
But the tide has turned.
Men and women marching together.
Under one flag.
Today, March 8, is International Woman’s Day. This is one mans hope for the future.

As I wanted to write a post about woman of today, for the international women’s day, 8th March, this gives me an ideal opportunity to do so. Thanks Reena.
She is subjugated, imposed upon and discriminated against. But a woman is still the strongest being in all the races that reside here on the planet earth.
She is now growing in strength. Maturing in thought of how to defend herself from the abuse and harassment that has been meted out to her since times immemorial.
The wife, the mother…
