Herculean

Yes. They are vociferous, loud, over the top. And why shouldn’t they? They are the most powerful in the land of underprivileged people. Self-righteous noises just prove that they cannot do anything wrong. Shrillness cuts through the chill, and I’m forced to concede that they are making herculean efforts. How can I not acknowledge their … Continue reading Herculean

Sadje’s take on the Exploration Challenge!

Sadje's avatarKeep it alive

We need colors in life. We can do with the gray and blacks but life really lifts up with the colors. There should be the color of diversity in our lives. That’s why God has created us in so many colors and hues. Just like there are so many varieties of animal and plant life, all are somewhat similar and somewhat different. Like there are different colors of the mountains around us and the rivers and seas reflect different hues of blue.

When some people talk about color of skin, I always want to ask, have you seen a person whose skin has no color? We all are people of color. Some are lighter than others while some are richer in hues.

And then there are the colors of nature around us. All vibrant and amazing!

Here’s to a beautiful colorful life for everyone on this planet.

Reena’s Exploration Challenge #79 – Stain

Stain ………… by Michael

colorsUse one or more of the words given in the prompt, and weave into a composition of your choice.

There was no removing it. Like super glue it stuck to the fabric and no amount of washing, scrubbing or cursing made any difference.

The festival was soon to begin and the thought of entering the parade with a stain such as I had on my bodice was too much to contemplate.

In an air of positivity, a stain was not a good sign of compliance with the spirit of the festival.

The pigment within the stain was putting up a good fight against everything being thrown at it to remove it. So in exasperation, we decided to decorate it, try and make it blend with the fabric it had taken over.

A little colour here and a tinge of this there and before we knew it the stain had lost…

Sleeping, lifeless, but a dream

Each petal a promise

Each stem stupendous

Leaves that want to leap

As eyes wander with God’s regard

Palms pulsate and synapses synthesize

Chroma and contrast leap to the artist’s…

Tale Weaver #215 – Alone – March 21st

We lived in a house that was alive with sound, activity and fear.

There was always something going on, school activities, dance classes, sport of all different types.

It was a constant cycle of going here and there, preparing lunches, taking a child to some appointment and cooking dinner, for eight on a nightly basis was an effort when you think we worked as well.

You’d think in a household where so much was going on you could never be lonely, but it was a reality. With so many relying on you, there was never time for yourself and when there was it was taken with a sense of guilt for being selfish and not at the beck and call of those around you.

I lived with a woman who was essentially a baby machine. She liked to be pregnant but beyond that showed a disinterest in the children except…

Levitating

Suits meet, banter about deals,
conspiratorial heads bent, deep
throaty laughs, confidence reeking.

I glide by, imperceptibly, am a whisper
on the window of their intensity.

Families congregate on front lawns,
squeals of delight trailing blurs,
adult murmurs lost in shrill echoes.

I float on by, an ethereal witness,
no more than the wisp of a cloud.

Only a dog, unleashed, catches
a whiff of something inexplicable,
gives chase, nips at nothingness.

I am elusive, lacking substance,
he retreats bewildered, interest lost.

Am I somehow flawed,  I wonder
aloud to the gathering of females
draped across my bed, intrigued

Have landed now, solidly connected
to this other-abled reality, grounded.

Intimate discussions of life’s mystery
peaks interest, all want to learn to fly,
beg me to demonstrate, inspired to try.

Detachment is the secret, I reveal;
just launch yourself and release.

Instincts grasp to offer support,
arms reaching out in assistance,
