Can the Sun rise in the West? To the extent of our knowledge, No. We place immense trust in Nature. Sometimes we also trust human beings we see as infallible and supportive.
I felt a pillar fall that morning when I saw a change in someone’s stance. More so, because the reason for it was inexplicable. Surprisingly, I was still standing on my two feet without needing support.
Perspectives transitioned with a change in the surrounding light. We are not always the same people that we were.
East fades into West,
horizons turn as I move,
the compass is me.

When change happens… we have to adjust. Sometimes we cry sad tears, but we need to move forward and follow our own compass.
I am going through a situation that I thought was over, and yet it persists. Perhaps it will be over today…

Thanks

Yes, sadly, human nature is less reliable.

We need to acknowledge that we are also changing.

Reena, your haibun says much in few words. I thought the sun could rise in the west — if we renamed the directions 😉 I like your idea better. There is a line in Pearl Jam’s song, “Bee Girl,” that was brought to mind by your poem:
Believe me
Those who can be trusted
Can change their mind
