Easy-Peasy Bread Bites

Take any sliced bread which does not crumble easily.

Cut each slice into four pieces. Deep fry in oil or clarified butter all the pieces till they are golden brown.

Drain excess fat on a tissue paper.

SYRUP

Prepare a sugar syrup with sugar and water in a 1:2 proportion.

Dip the pieces in it for some time.

Carefully lift them out with a slotted spoon.

Top with condensed milk/ thick cream and a cherry/ crushed dry fruit. Serve on a bed of custard if so desired, but it is not necessary.


This dessert is called Shahi Tukda, which means Food for Royals.

  1. We have a dish called Eggy Bread, which is similar to this recipe. It is where you coat bread in egg, and fry it. You can add all sorts of toppings, and holiday once, they added cream, and raspberries. Best thing I have eaten. I love treacle, I might try this.
