Whose shadow is it? It’s not Halloween
Under a grey sky, muffled cries abound
She wants to, but cannot let out a scream
Darkness helps the Devil; a slap resounds
Tears flow in rivers; the Moon’s not around
Patriarchal systems rule a deaf world
Old wounds hurt again with fresh abuse hurled
Broken woman’s curse cuts through icy winds
She remained unseen, but won’t die unheard
Belladonna reborn; terror unfurls
Belladonna Reborn

Always a struggle, for women at any age.
We take two steps forward and are pushed a step back at most things.

Patriarchy holds a vast majority and includes women supporters. I see the urban youth revolting against it, but in India, we have a long way to go.
I’m committed to fight for a couple of lifetimes 😀

May we succeed in ‘fairness’ sooner than later.

Thank you, Imelda! A patriarchal culture leads to a lot of injustice to women and incumbent tragedies.

Powerful stuff! The mention of the abuse, even with all we now know, still shocks and horrifies to the point where that is, sadly, the predominant image.

Thanks, Rosemary! I’m happy that it touches a chord.

It’s frustrating to me to see how much power the patriarchy holds over women. And as a non-paying member myself I do what little I can to show others that a better balance can be struck. The alpha-males can call me whatever they want, I have little respect for them.
