I reprimand someone for carelessly unmuting themselves during an online training session. Deep down, I’m grateful for the sounds of music that streamed in, altering our states of consciousness. Frowns in open windows change to smiles, but disappear as quick as the sun between heavy showers.
He switches on the camera to apologise and I see guitars resting against the wall. I want to know if someone was playing it, but restrain myself from voicing it. The decorum of a session needs to be maintained.
Mentally, I’m on a vacation.
happy accidents
soften stoic expressions
joy waits in the wings

Lovely bit of serendipity, Reena.

Great write Reena, sometimes in meetings we wish we were on holiday and our mind can wander there!😊

It happens so often. 🙂

Sometimes those unexpected “mistakes” on zoom are the best, especially if it’s good music. Nice take on the prompt.

Music always brings joy ( provided it is not cacophony 😉)
Thank you, Reena😊

I like your inclusion of the disclaimer 🙂 The loud music that pervades wedding halls or street processions on festivals, inspiring enthusiasts to shake their booty, always puts me off.

That was exactly what was in my mind, Reena. You had a happy experience. 😊

Most folks are mentally on vacation when stuck in meetings or training sessions!

It’s ok to break the session for a moment! It’s good to be reminded we are human.

True that. Thank you so much!

I hope this is a learning lesson for the person giving the reprimand. We are humans, not machines.

When someone shares a bit of their life in a meeting it ususlly makes me happier…. music, a pet or a child… we need those little breaks.

True. I show the face of my Shih-tzu’s at times, towards the end of a session.
During another non-professional session, I learnt about an incredible trick. A guy had placed the doorbell under the format. The dog would sit on it and the bell would ring.

Perhaps it would have been nice if he had played the guitar.

Organisational rules do not allow that, but yes… I would have preferred that 😊

As I approached retirement, I mentally pulled back from work, though I still dream about it sometimes. I wake up grateful that I don’t have to solve those problems anymore.

We need to find replacements in the mental space.

Very nice! Better than the phone ringing during a session!

An unexpected take on happiness, Reena, music is never unwelcome and frequently the most reliable source of happiness…
