Is that a bird, or a dream?
On the book cover, hope gleams
Let’s turn the pages and look afresh
Is there a structure to keep us unmeshed?
Is that a handcuff or a structure?
Does it lend meaning to lives torn asunder
Freedom is about having an option
You may celebrate or choose to shun.

Thought-provoking poem with excellent ending!

Thanks, Indira! In so many cases, people remain bound by choice, and give it different names.

What an apt question! And perfect metaphors for freedom. However, it may not be an option for many just because all dreams are not true and birds fly away! Handcuffs defines it so well. I like the juxtaposition in your thoughts.

There are people who feel lost without a structure. Too much freedom is not for them. Then, there are self-imposes structures 😂
So, freedom is only about a choice of structure.
