It’s not me, it’s you
a moment of being gaslit
-infested, infected
and then manifested
in the victim’s thoughtscape
lighting a fire
instigating crime
a silenced conscience
a traumatised ego
a damaged sense of self
seeks fulfilment
by revenge
The world screams
Gaslighting amplifies volumes
“I told you so”
The victim stops and turns
Yes, you did
Now, roles are reversed
untrodden paths traversed
I am not the same person.
You are not a sane person

This is very close to home, I so want all victims to be able to stop, turn and see…. the last line is so clear for others to see…💞

Reena, this poem starts small, like a fire, rapidly grows and the slightly flickering flame becomes an inferno! I love the role reversal and the power that surges!!

Manipulation at its worst – a relief to see your victim square up to their tormenter. The rhyming couplet summing it up so well:
‘Now, roles are reversed
untrodden paths traversed’.

Thank you for the engagement!
The choice lies between a violent response, suffering or just walking away.

Gaslighting is something too many suffer with.

Gaslighters rid themselves of guilty by transferring it.

They do, and it is difficult to see for the victim.

I feel the shift in power here—quiet but seismic. The closing lines land with an unsettling finality that echoes long after reading.
