Nocturnal birds dig the night deep
to unlock wisdom held by darkness
draw silver lines on purple skies
make planets weary of earthly voyagers
that smell of human hands, not roots
Sunrise might reveal conspiracies
where East and West show North
of human ambition
Owl’s Limitations

Reena, “that smell of human hands, not roots” strikes me as especially powerful. It seems to suggest such a sharp contrast between our nature and the world we intrude upon.

How clever of you to lead with the opposite of sunrise! I enjoyed your quadrille, Reena.

Maybe we need to look more into darkness sometimes instead of waiting for sunrise

It is not the best of places to be, yet unavoidable.

Love the illustration. Interesting twist with words to have the sunrise reveal conspiracies!
