Belly up …
He descends from unconsciousness
to a deep slumber
as scalpels carve
his arteries
on a lab tray
The much-feared examiner
appreciates the precision
with which the murder
was executed
mercilessly
seamlessly
on the horizon
of life and afterlife
The frog’s soul
recalls wisdom of the well
It was the whole truth
and nothing but the truth
-there were no opponents
to falsify it
The chloroform jar
invited him
to explore its depths
till he drowned himself
in whatever he deemed
as unacceptable lies
My truth is true
held together
by the belief glue
-Living in denial
won’t wipe out
a thought universe
you did not know

Great write! Confession: My sisters and I murdered a frog when we were 9 and 10. I felt guilty for ages after ….. so did she. We never told our Mother.

We went a step ahead … Buried the dead frog in my grandfather’s garden and watered it everyday in the hope of seeing a frog tree 😂

You brought back memories of frog dissection in biology classes in school.

Yes. Those memories haunt me at times. I won’t be able to do it again.

I like how you shared layers of the scene, beginning seemingly with the conclusion. We don’t see the process, undertaken to arrive at the lie, or the truth.
