The character of a rebel artist portrays the essence of a dictatorial regime through his work – a man being crushed by the royal elephant’s foot.
This is the only character I remember from a mushy, historical fiction romance – Mughal-e-Azam.
Artists and writers are killed for holding leftist views. The culprits are not booked after a decade of courtroom hearings.
The writer, watching the drama with interest, continues working on his next manuscript. He knows that his views may not go well with the majority.
The awards go to people who toe the line. This writer is not invited to the award ceremony.
He spends the evening polishing his manuscript.
