Prompt lines
—when skies are hanged and oceans drowned,
the single secret will still be man
Credit: E.E.Cummings
welcome the freshness
and the fragrance
it covers scars
of wounds inflicted
long ago
smudged fingerprints
conceal identities
foretell a fraud
by repeated assaults
unmindful of history
or warning disasters
resentment subsides
empathy overrides
for both man and nature
are just faded memories
of whatever
they used to be

for both man and nature
are just faded memories
of whatever
they used to be
Powerful lines!

Reena, I love the quote by E.E. Cummings; very apt for your piece. Your last stanza is powerful and I feel humankind needs to wise up in order to survive.

Do you see even a remote effort to wisen up?

I feel some have good intentions but many don’t stand their ground or carry through.

True. Efforts need a critical mass of involvement to succeed.

Earth will survive millions of years after man.

The predicted end for the planet is about 5000 years away. I foresee humanity evolving into a force driving AI, and making itself irrelevant in the process.

Me too, AI is a dangerous thing.

5000 years? For the planet or for mankind? Who is doing the predicting (and what’s their track record like? :-))

Google Baba Vanga. She says world will end in 5079. Guess I need to recalculate 🤨

Like most predictions, it’s all a bit vague.
I can predict that we will never know what happens in 5079!
