The North Star is called Dhruv Tara in Indian mythology.
The story goes that the younger prince of a kingdom was admonished by his stepmother for going near the throne.
Her infamous words –
The highest seat is not for everyone.
The Prince meditates hard to please the Lord and receives the following blessing:
‘Go back to your kingdom. When the time comes for you to leave your mortal body, I shall place you there.’
The god, with a solemn gesture, pointed above. ‘The highest place in the Universe exalted above all creation.
Here, you shall twinkle like a star. The brightest star. Firm in its place, just as you have unwaveringly remained throughout this ordeal.
Men will look at you with faith, for you shall guide them in the dark. They shall bless you and call you Dhruva Tara, the North Star.

Cute story, Reena.
