roofs prevent flight
sky looks askance
crumbling claims of
independent thought
(I can’t recall who
but someone said
structures are needed
to give a concrete shape
to ideas)
Blues are vast
touch different chords
clouds conceal horizons
limitlessness
under shadow
A chimney filters
toxicity
clarifies the air
for a relook at thought
I’m able to hope for
redemption
action
-denying claims of
rationalization

‘Design thinking’ is a new word for me. You always come up with a brilliant take.

I would never have thought that shaping ideas requires concrete structures, but it makes total sense to me.

Thank you for that! Design thinking teaches how to start from the end to arrive at the desired outcome.

Brilliant write, Reena. I love the contrast between thoughts being stifled, perhaps with reason, and thoughts released, perhaps with reason. 💗

I love how within your poem itself — between stanza to stanza — you create liminal spaces of passage, crossing from a place of entrapment to a place of hope. I especially enjoyed the clever hub of the poem — the “blues” that finally provide the vision needed to move forward, a glimpse of “horizons limitless.” Brilliant as always, Reena.
