peace wraps itself around me
engulfs in the shape of a question
like serpents around a sandal tree
I take it as a purpose of existence
Absence of war, but are minds free
of greed, bias and all not nice?
Its grip hardens on a terrified me
unsettling games; creaky foundation
peace casts a sarcastic glance with glee

I read such a thing as false peace. Delusion.

Hi Reena – I borrowed some lines from this poem for a Cento Challenge at the Pub – https://how-would-you-know.com/2024/05/lament.html…

We are all entitled to Peace as individuals and if we are lucky enough to live in a part of the world not at war then we should cherish it – but we should also do all the more, whatever we can, to promote peace for those less lucky…

I guess we can have peace within even when outside the world is filled with chaos. But it is hard.
