when you created this illusion called Earth
and put us all in a massive simulation
Did you think of being superceded
by thought energy?
It’s Me, Me everywhere, God
you are but a figment of my imagination
the sky and clouds
bear names I gave
colours that change in a heartbeat
azure to cerulean
tea, Cobalt, Aegean
lapiz, Indigo, Ocean
colours that battle the rainbow
to be captured on cameras
displayed on screens
struggling for virality
they are recognised by a lens
framed by humanity
My brush goes beyond
what you designed or desired
me to be
certainly not an idol
in places of worship
or a scripture to be sanctified
by those who want to redefine
existence
for a sea of inanity
I write, I paint, I recreate
versions of what you did
light years ago
with the speed of thought
and find
It’s me, only me
everywhere
land, sky or sea

Me, me and only me…we are becoming like that and that is a chilling thought. Excellent , Reena.

I think your greater than god concept holds up well in written and notional form, especially as a response to a Magritte!

I really like certain parts that talk about capture and recreation
“colours that battle the rainbow
to be captured on cameras
displayed on screens”
“I write, I paint, I recreate
versions of what you did
light years ago”
Humans are always trying to capture everything.

And preserve it for an eternity that will outlast them.

Wow. To see yourself in everything, is that humility or ego? Your poem poses questions!

I’d call it a limited perspective in absence of other inputs.

This is such an original and unique take on the painting, Reena! These lines stand out for me:
‘you are but a figment of my imagination
the sky and clouds
bear names I gave’
and
‘My brush goes beyond
what you designed or desired
me to be’.
And Björn beat me to it with his comment: a chilling though indeed to have Me everywhere!

Me everywhere… what a chilling thought, what terrible loneliness in company of self multiplied.

That’s an insightful perspective. Egoists are lonely people.

In the end, relying on yourself is the only path to take.
