You don’t own the Earth

What makes you think you own the Earth
when you cannot establish your worth
without mindless tools of destruction
How dare you talk about resurrection
of a faded flag, past blunders, a lost pride
when heads hung in shame, egos collide
from dark, unknown eras you did not exist
open your eyes; discard stories; clear the mist

what makes you transgress boundaries
from battleground to fields and foundries
those kids and women are family to some
what drives you to make them war ransom
Stripping their modesty is no bravery
True soldiers know patriotism, chivalry
War is no license to unleash base instincts
your blood is black in all shades and tints

Know that you will not return untouched
with shreds of honour; souls destroyed
you will walk like ghosts – alive or dead
Who is behind that mask? You will dread
running into someone whom you harmed
mercilessly; for they were unarmed
and could not hit back; but now they may
you shake with fear; it’s their turn to slay

Poetics: Why War?

I came across a very touching poem on the subject. Sharing it here…

    1. There are some groups that practice Power of Intent. Say a person is in trouble, the entire group prays and visualises good things for her. They claim to see positive results.

I wish nations would do it for the afflicted countries.

  1. War only breeds more discord and enmity and civilians on both sides suffer. You have expressed this so well. No one ever “wins” a war, even if they think they have.
