Milestones

We set off on a long drive
With a map and a plan
wanting to see the world
explore this vast land
reach a destination with elan

We pass by milestones
That mark our progress
They tell us how far we’ve come
And how much more is left
Lest we divert or digress

Some milestones are big and bright
They make us feel elated
They show us our achievements
inspire us to appreciate success
even if belated

Some milestones are faded and small
They drive us up the wall
They show us our challenges
And remind us of towers tall

But all milestones are important
They are part of our journey
They help us measure growth
And shape our destiny

let’s appreciate every milestone
we encounter on the way
They are the signs of life
and stories we can say
