My grandpa dissuaded us from getting on these rickshaws, as it felt cruel to have a human pull your weight. By refraining, we deprived the rickshaw-puller of his income. But there is no end to certain ethical dilemmas.
Then, came the cycle-rickshaw which was also a novelty for us. We had none of those in the metropolitan city of Bombay where we lived.
I often wondered why the seat is tilted forward, making it difficult to maintain balance. Probably, it made the cycle-rickshaw driver’s task easy.
Can we tilt the seats forward, whenever we impose our burden on less-privileged beings?

Good piece 💕

Well done and very nice closing comment.
My apologies to everyone for missing the note about word requirement. My story was much too long. Sorry!

yes, we all have a place in society, and perhaps not always obvious to ourselves as we look at others.

Ethical dilemmas abound! I took a whole semester of “Ethics in Practice” while working on my master’s degree. Even the simplest examples created some heated discussions, because everyone has a slightly different perspective than anyone else. It’s surprising how many things in life are not absolutely right or wrong.

Yes. I was THE decision maker in too many situations. Scary.
