She senses something out of place before ringing the doorbell. The brass statue of a gunman in the porch looks askance, as his angle of vision changed. It looks like plants have not been watered in the morning.
She enters her own house with trepidation as she expects monsters to emerge from the walls and take control of her life. She is relieved when it doesn’t happen.
Minutes later, she calls out the domestic staff for coffee, but there is no response. What the …? Her hunch about imperceptible change was right. She checks her messages with a pounding heart.
The family has taken off for an impromptu weekend camp, and she is free to spend two days as she likes. She is not amused, but decides to give it a shot.
Getting words together to form a poem, brushstrokes on a canvas to remind her of her fine arts course in college and take-out food parcels….
On Monday morning, she declares that she is taking the week off to spend sometime in the vacation house.
Not being in control or in-charge of a routine gave her control on her own life. She needs time to process the internal changes.

That last line is EXACTLY what I’m doing in August. 🙂
