Stretching beyond life

The place hasn’t changed much in a decade.

But an intriguing sight greets me. Two dogs are lounging around in the chairs which the senior Smith couple used to grace.

I push the gate open and see a young girl serving their food in bowls on the table.

“I haven’t seen you here before.”

“How could you? I came from the West Coast to take care of the dogs. It was a pre-condition for inheritance as per my grandparents’ will.”

She breaks into a smile as she strokes the lovely fur-babies.

“They remember my grandparents more than their children do.”

  1. An interesting tale! I think these characters could go somewhere from here…even the dogs. I would steal the idea if I had time to write! Lol.
