ominous voice
with penetrating vision
nobody wants
to see or hear me
symbol of wisdom
in certain cultures
labelled as an idiot
by those who fear me
tearing through darkness
stories penetrate my core
processing inputs
I speak, but once in a while
truth scares – bad omen am I

I loved your poem. My spirit animal was the owl.

I’ve never seen an owl. But I’ve heard them. They are visiting right now. I love their hoots. Your poem is lovely. Thanks for sharing.

I really like how you characterize Mother Owl. She is thought to travel between the waking and sleeping world with messages. It’s not surprising the messages are often not understood (at first) or welcomed (truth can be scary.) Beautiful poem, Reena.

I’m going to take the outstanding traits of the owl for you, Reena. You’re quiet and thoughtful, and often wise. I hope you had fun. 🦉
