I thought I was clever, you see
denying a moment its identity

living in yesterdays, putting off
todays….for tomorrow

moments moving from days to months
and still so clever with all excuses

knowingly perhaps unknowingly
suffocating it to the point of explosion

eventually its existence demands
acknowledgement

as a moment becomes a memory
and we are forced to set it free
everything shatters… all over again

concealed
mine from me
too vicious that vision
a moment then hidden

trapped too long
the need to breathe
it exits forcefully

it tastes its freedom
upon my cheeks
shattered to pieces
all over again
as mine is freed from me
