she watches as life passes
her by. silent, she stands, as
fragments of her own life lie
scattered before her eyes

her gaze intent,
though thoughts tired,
she needed to breathe~
before them, she gathered

she’d learnt a lesson
trying repeatedly, to
open and close doors
with the same key

she now knows,
she has to rein them in
one fragment at a time
and though it feels like
it will take forever, she
has at least conquered
one fear. her solitude
she now holds dear, for
it gives her the patience
needed to find the keys
one door at a time…
