I missed the train back from the city.

One beer and a bag of Raisinets, bought for lunch and dinner,

Causing me be to be late, because

One beer was never enough

So I bought another tall boy

Prophetic in its prediction of what was to draw

Me away from the home I was already late to return to

And the arms that I would go to instead, screaming

“I am a woman in trouble, I am no heroine. I can’t save myself,”…

Wanting for a hero,

I manufactured a situation by accident

That was perfect for a wanted rescue.

A victim of time, more than man,

I remember in that moment, running to make my train,
