Voices from the past

my head bursts with pain
at the end of a tether
is it indignation,
weariness or disdain?

I shut my doors
to negativity
it constantly pours
testing sensitivity

phones switched off
SIM cards swapped
Why doesn’t the phone ring stop
I’ve pressed all buttons…

I spin with reverberations
of a past that stays
voices from other worlds
demons I can’t slay
games I can’t play
recitations
incantations
are of no use

Banish them forever
Banish them from the soul
