Crime and Punishment
He’s in therapy now, which he hates, but they tell him it’s the only way he’ll be free of the depression and crippling anxiety and so he’s talking about his childhood and about a time when the chaos in his home was so extreme, his parents both drunk and his mother actually physically attacking his father, that he hid in his bedroom and went to school next day, hungry and with his homework unfinished.
He firmly believes this home atmosphere is at the root of his dark moods, but to his amazement, the therapist hones in on the story he told about the punishment that the teacher gave him because he hadn’t finished his homework.
