Sunny side up

Egg yolks are so yummy. I don’t want an omelet with egg whites….

I stop in my tracks to hear a voice as Judah fiddles with his fork, trying to prick the yolk on his sunny side up.

“I’m sure the world outside is sunnier than me. It’s great to be out of that egg shell.”

“Hey, am I dreaming?”

“No, buddy – thanks for pulling me out, but being fried is not a happy experience.”

“Nobody likes being fried. But where were you so far, magic yolk?”

“Happy to know you see magic in me. My Mom told me, I’m fat and round and runny, and should stay protected with slimy whites around me. She’d even provide warmth … in the hope that I’ll blossom into someone like her.”

“So, you had a choice to stay what you are or metamorphose?”

“I don’t know those difficult words. But sure, my sunny temperament was dampened by being locked inside.”

“Let’s chalk out a future together. I don’t wanna grow up either.”
