What do you expect me to do?

“War is at the doorstep. What do you expect me to do?” This is prompt #219 from Reena’s Xploration Challenge. Reena has chosen a challenge that is very timely with the horrific situation in Ukraine.

My son knows people who live in Kyiv. He tells me they are ordinary working people who go out to lunch and buy overpriced salads and on Fridays go for a beer or a sushi dinner after work.

If I was in Kyiv I might wonder, since war is at my doorstep, “what do you expect me to do? ” Should I watch my home be blown up and my family humiliated in the street? Or would I hope my career as a marketing manager has prepared me to be shooting at tanks out of my living room window.
