“Everything about her was a lie….”
His lower lip quivers as he tries to keep his tears in check.
I decide to let him embrace his vulnerability for a while, then ask
“What was it that you found so disappointing?”
“She wants to move abroad and discover newer ways of living. She has no emotional attachment for this place and people.”
“Did she ever tell you that she wants to stay here forever?”
“No, but I assumed…..” his voice tapers off.
“You built an image of her in your head – the kind of girl you consider ideal, and moved ahead in the relationship assuming that she is all that you desire. Am I correct?”
“We did not discuss this. She was friendly and nice to me.” He looks thoughtful, as he stares out of the window, avoiding my gaze.
“It makes sense to talk about all things – ambitions, expectations, money, beliefs. It may not be your ideal kind of relationship or ideal kind of woman. But every one is not cut out to fit into your frames.
Everything about her is a lie, because the truth was left undefined.”

So true. We define a ‘truth’ in our head and never see the entire picture.

So often, we see only what we want to see and that is not always the reality.

Great take Reena. Often we are victims of our own misconceptions.
