Kindness

I help her
I may need her help
tomorrow
-oblige her
to serve my own interest
Am I being kind?

  1. Do it often enough and it becomes you. And the reward to the given is even grander. Yes, the receiver’s belief in humanity is encouraged but the giver’s heart grows inches. haha, I’m sure you already know this. Thanks for this lovely poem.

    1. That’s right 🙂 My grandmother told me helping the maid is not counted as charity, since you expect a better quality of service from her. Charity is that frozen water bottle you give a beggar on a sultry summer afternoon. I used to keep water in empty soda bottles to give away to delivery boys and other service vendors in summer.

        1. I expect people to give me their best service no matter what. To hold out the best to those who tip more, or help out, or something, seems wrong to me. I always did my best, even to those who weren’t grateful.
